On April 24, 1926, Ocie L. Woods Williams was born to the late Mr. Pleas and Mrs. Penny Woods. She was the 3rd of 8 children. She departed this life on March 29, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m.
Ocie attended Allen White School in Whiteville, TN. After graduating she attended Lane College in Jackson, TN.
Ocie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Union Springs MB Church. Later, she joined Campbell Chapel MB Church. She was a faithful and dedicated member, a Sunday School teacher and President of the Mother Board.
On September 28, 1952, she was joined in holy matrimony to Willie Leroy Williams. Together, they parented 12 children.
Ocie was employed at Western Mental health Institute for 26 years as a Technical Supervisor. After retiring, her desire was to open a cafe and she did just that. The cafe was named ' East End Cafe'. She was also a chef at Top Hat restaurant. In addition to cooking, one of her other passions was care taking. She took care of both of her parents and multiple family members until they departed.
Mrs. Ocie was also a poet. She loved to write astounding and meaningful poems for others to read. She received honor for one of her famous poems named "The Tree".
She leaves to cherish her memories; 9 children; Robert Lee (Lillie) Williams, Sr. of Memphis, Georgia Griffin of Bolivar, Geroy (Lynn)Davis of Minnesota, Alonzo Williams of Bolivar, DeWayne (Brenda) Williams of California, Bernard (Sylvia) Williams, Cecil (Peggy) Williams of Nashville, Kenneth (Debra) Williams of Jackson and Patricia (Kent) Woods of Murfreesboro, 2 siblings; Mrs. Minnie Sain and Bobbly (Jean) Woods, a daughter-in-law; Mable Woods, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers; Pleas Woods, Jr., Willie Woods and Nathaniel Woods, 2 sisters; Artie Robinson, Rose Parram and 3 children; Joe Louis Woods, Elizabeth Harris and Bobby Joe Williams
