Marcus Brown Obituary

Marcus D Brown

September 5, 1978 ~ February 23, 2026 (age 47)

Marcus Devol Brown entered this life on September 5, 1978, to Gloria Hussey and Carl V. Brown. From the very beginning, he was a loving and cherished child to his parents.  He passed away on Monday February 23, 2026.

His funeral service was held on Saturday March 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at Sims Chapel MB Church with Reverend Terry Smith in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home, www.dixiefuneralhome.com, was in charge of the professional service.

Marcus accepted Christ at an early age at Sims Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Adam Gholson, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that would guide his steps and shape his purpose.

He was educated in the Fayette County School System and proudly graduated from Fayette Ware High School in Somerville, Tennessee, with the Class of 1997.

For the past six years, Marcus was employed with Siemens Industrial Corporation in Southaven, Mississippi, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and positive spirit. Marcus transitioned from this life on February 23, 2026.

He loved God wholeheartedly and held a deep, sincere love for his family and every person he encountered. Thoughtful and compassionate, Marcus was always concerned about others. He ministered to the elderly, the homeless, and the less fortunate-he truly never met a stranger. In keeping with his generous and loving nature, Marcus' final act of kindness was the gift of organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Marcus deeply loved his church family at Divine Favor Fellowship Ministries and had great admiration for Pastor Terry Smith and Lady Rosalind. Marcus was a member of the community prayer warriors. He accepted his call to the ministry in 2013 and remained faithful to his assignment until God called him home.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Gracie and James Hussey, and Versie and Charlie Brown; his uncles, James Jr., Charlie, Leo, and Leon Hussey, and Ray, Walter, and Aaron Brown; and his aunt Versie Brown.

Marcus leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and nurturing parents, Gloria and Carl Brown; his sisters, who hold his memory close to heart: Shah Brown of Mason, TN, and Gabrille Brown (Lando) of Somerville, TN; his niece, Angel Brown; grandnephew, Isaiah; and grandniece, I'Jariah. He is also survived by supportive aunts, Helen Murrell, Beverly Hussey, Dianne Brown, Sylvia Brown, Annie Brown, Collette Hubbard, and Lucille Embry; caring uncles, Johnny Murrell, Willie Hussey, Rickey Hussey, and Wayne Brown; and great-aunts, Emma Fason, Louise Coleman, and Vera Turner. A special cousin, Venus Murrell-Claxton, who grew up with him like a sibling, cherishes his memory with profound affection. He will be deeply missed by special friends, including Minister Tony Smith, Minister Greg Hathaway, Evangelist Kewuana Miller, Evangelist Annie Love, Kenyatta and Kobe Sears, LeKethric Rosser, and Lavell Rosser, along with a host of other cousins and friends. Marcus' impact on those he loved-and those he served-will continue to shine through every life he touched.
